Bull Trout
The Bull Trout, or Salvelinus Confluentus, is my favorite species of fish. Elusive and mysterious, searching for them often feels like looking for a cryptid. They are a member of the char genus. In general, char are more migratory than true trout. Their habitats can include hundreds of miles of remote wilderness, which a single fish will travel throughout each year. The name ‘Bull’ comes from the size of their head in relation to the body. Built like pit bulls, they will grab onto prey fish and hold on with a vise like grip. They will even exhibit this behavior on a cutthroat or whitefish that an angler is landing, allowing themselves to be pulled to a net when they are not hooked
